Launched in March 2020, Lunch with a Lawyer was our response to the increasing demand for family law information and resources, along with the limited access to existing services due to restrictions brought about by COVID-19.
It is an easily accessible online space and community where people can ask an experienced family lawyer questions about domestic and family violence and family law and obtain free information and resources relevant to their situation.
Lunch with a Lawyer operates via a private Facebook group. Once part of the group, members can post questions on the group page or send questions via private message.
Every weekday between 12pm and 1pm, our family lawyers spend their lunch break responding to questions and providing tailored legal information and resources to members.
Free lunchtime sessions since 2020.
We make it a point to answer ALL questions.
Since March 2020 and growing!

As Australia’s first non profit law firm we have always had a strong sense of community and been committed to helping people through difficult legal situations such as separation, divorce and the loss of a loved one. Now, in response to increased demand for family law services New Way Lawyers is stepping up and helping out by making it easier to access free legal information online.

As our Lunch with a Lawyer community continues to grow, we have plans to diversify and strengthen the support which we are able to give to the community.
Use of funding to specifically target at risk groups who are vulnerable to family and domestic violence.
Use of funding to expand coverage hours of the service from 12pm to 1pm to 11am to 2pm.
Phone consultations at no cost to our members will allow them to take the next step should they need to. Barriers of cost and hesitation are removed given the service is free and the engagement is against the backdrop of an established relationship with New Way Lawyers due to their connection to the group.
Pro bono services ,funded via a private donation fund, will be used to provide initial consultations to at risk members (who meet a specified criteria) from Lunch with a Lawyer. This valuable extension of Lunch with a Lawyer will allow members to access legal services and support that they may not otherwise have been able to access.
Thank you for your service. Yes, it has been very difficult – the most difficult period of my life. So I thank you and the New Way team for your professionalism, your prayers, and your work.

I could not have gotten through this year without New Way Lawyers. After one consultation with Ryan I knew that he and the staff there know everything there is to know about family law. I highly recommend them.
They have supported me and helped me put things in place so that I can be the best version of myself and the best mum I can be.
